The New Website

Our vision for this website was to build a miniature theatre, a personal screening room where clients and friends can view our videos in the highest possible quality, away from advertisements and clutter. We’re thrilled with the video solution we came up with and encourage you to view the work on a fast computer with high-speed internet. This is HD!
Special thanks to Nick Simmons and Jeremy Juel for leading this effort. Please enjoy the work, and check back for new videos.

Our Name

What is More Dust Than Digital, you ask?
It is an understanding that although digital music allows people to play their favorite songs anywhere in the world, it will never replace the need for the sound of guitars strummed around campfires. It is an acknowledgement that although an email can relay a message around the world in a matter of seconds, it will never replace the feeling of tearing into a hand-written letter from someone you love. It is an acceptance of the fact that although cellular phones may greatly increase the volume and ease of global communication, they will never speak the things that are said silently by looking someone in the eye. It is an appreciation that although the Internet empowers people to share information worldwide, the richest stories may still be discovered by rummaging through your own attic. Finally, it is an excitement that no matter how far the digital revolution carries us, all it takes is a drive out of town to realize that there will always be more dust…

A Company History, In Part

More Dust Than Digital was formed unofficially in January of 2002 on a redeye flight to Los Angeles following the Sundance Film Festival. Harry Calbom and Austin Wilson, both students at the University of Southern California, envisioned
“a creative alliance of dreamers” that would produce meaningful works of art for a specific audience: their friends.
MDTD’s first production was a four-week run of the Kenneth Lonergan play THIS IS OUR YOUTH, creatively staged in an off-campus apartment, where risers were installed in the kitchen and living room, carpet was removed entirely, theatrical lights were hung, and concessions were sold nightly, all unbeknownst to the building’s management company.
More Dust Than Digital was officially incorporated in Seattle, Washington in January of 2005. Since that time we have supported ourselves and our creative ambitions by producing commercials, documentaries, marketing and training films, and various web-based video content. Our “creative alliance of dreamers” has expanded considerably to include a talented band of editors, designers, cinematographers, interns, and composers, all of whom have contributed time, talent and energy to the video work on this site.
